About Dwight"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
What makes me come alive? It's to be engaged in fellowship with the Father and my Christian brothers and sisters. It's diving deep into His word. It's helping one another grow in grace and truth. It's speaking the truth in love so we may all grow into the knowledge and fullness of Jesus Christ, It's to know and share the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalms 37:4) The desire of my heart is to delight in Him. My passion is to engage with others in the name of Christ for the purpose of nurturing their spiritual growth. Everything we do and don't do comes from our identity. Growing spiritually is about coming into the fullness of our identity in Christ. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 3:10 ESV) |
What I Believe |
If I were to list the basics of my faith, I would probably sound like most Christians. Truth is, I love Scripture so much. I love the written word of God, especially the information it contains about our age, the church age, and God's purpose and plan for the church. Of course, I believe and trust Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe I am saved by grace through faith (Eph 3:8-9). I believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I also believe Scripture reveals the deep thoughts of God (1 Cor 2:10) as He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6).
I do not merely focus on morality, religious rituals, traditions, or humanitarian efforts. Most of those are good, very good. But God has graciously given His children so much more than this world has to offer. I believe Scripture reveals these gems to us over time, as we grow in the spiritual capacity to take in such things. Yet, without the humble study of Scripture, these gems go undiscovered or merely superficially mentioned. (2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Tim 2:15; John 17:17) Furthermore, I believe wholeheartedly in God’s secret and hidden wisdom destined for our glory before the ages began (1 Cor 2:7). He has freely given us His Spirit which searches everything, even the deep things of God (1 Cor 2:10). If anyone is in Christ, he or she is a new creation (2 Cor 5:17). This new nature is not just a modified human nature, for we have died to the sinful nature (Romans 6:11) and were made alive together with Christ. All believers in the church age have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places and are predestined to be in Christ (Eph 1:3-6). Taken together, those verses and thoughts reveal a Christian's true identity, redefined to the very core of our natures. Combined with our glorious destination planned for us before time began, it is certainly “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph 3:20).” |
My History |
Ever since I was little, I had a mild curiosity about my life. "Why am I here? How did I get here at this time? What is life all about? Where does love come from? What makes life worth living?"
As far as I knew, no one else seemed to be asking those questions, so I kept them to myself, tucked away, and brought them out only once in rare while. Rather, I just got busy trying to live life like everyone else. Problem is, I wasn't like everyone else. It would take me years to go from fighting the idea that I was a misfit to embracing the reality that I was unique. In the process of embracing my inner being, I dove deeper into psychotherapy, spirituality, and recovery principles. I wanted to understand what makes me tick a certain way. I began to understand the roles of addiction, dysfunction, abuse, neglect, sexuality, habits, and humanity. Most of all, I began to understand God's grand design for the church and how I fit in, perfectly, into His plan. Now, I want to help others go through their process of self-discovery and experience the peace and joy that comes with knowing you're headed on the path divinely intended for you. Among my teachers and resources were the Word of God, my pastor Douglas Presley and the Word Is Truth Christian Church, my coach for a season Steve Pylypiak, the Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI), American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) & Light University, Christian Coaching Center, Institute for Life Coach Training, Coach Inc., Co-Active Coaching, Christian Coaching by Gary R. One of the greatest benefits of life coaching is that you do not need to fully understand what it is, what it is not, or how and why it works in order to benefit from it. Just like eating fresh vegetables can be beneficial to your health without understanding the science of nutrition, so too can life coaching be profoundly beneficial to your whole life.
From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)
